    February Count Day Information

    Information-100

Spring count day is Wednesday, February 11, 2026.  It is Michigan Virtual's goal to direct you to accurate information, specifically section 5-O-D of the  25-26 Pupil Accounting Manual, pages 138-146, "Virtual Learning Options," and offer tools to help facilitate the process.

Michigan Virtual does not intend to provide advice on how schools should satisfy the participation requirement.  Verify with your local auditor which count day method you should use to satisfy membership requirements.

    Michigan Virtual Count Day Report:

Which data is collected on the report and how can you help students plan their Count Day assignment submission?

We provide a courtesy Count Day Report to assist you in retrieving documentation on the completion of a graded course assignment for each scheduled Michigan Virtual course in the Brightspace learning management system.  You can view a Count Day Demo Report to see an example of what you can expect for your local report.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  The Count Day Report only captures data for submitted, graded course items, such as an assignment, quiz, test, or discussion board post.

Course activity that includes logging in, completing lesson content,  ungraded formative assessments, or other non-graded items, will NOT be displayed on the Count Day Report.

Planning Ahead - Help Students Select a Graded Course Item to Submit:

Guide your students to select a graded course item associated to points in the gradebook for their Count Day submission.  Examples include a graded discussion board post, assignment, quiz, or test.  Coaching Suggestions:

    1. Direct your students to go to their SLP Gradebook and locate the next graded assignment to be submitted and make note of the title.
    2. Alternatively, request that students download or print their personalized Student Pacing Tool and locate the next graded assignment that is associated with points.

How to Access the Count Day Report

The spring 2026 Count Day Report will be located in  Brightspace.  By February 11, 2026, a Count Day Report widget will appear on the top of your Brightspace home page to facilitate report access.

NOTE: Student activity data for this report will be available after Count Day, beginning Thursday, February 12, 2026.

View a Demo Count Day Report to see an example of what you can expect for your local report. For further information, see our Count Day Dashboards support article.
