Count Day Information

Hello, Michigan Virtual Mentors!

Fall count day has arrived.  It is Michigan Virtual's goal to direct you to accurate Michigan Department of Education Pupil Accounting Manual information and offer tools to help facilitate the process.  Please note that Michigan Virtual does not intend to provide advice on how schools should satisfy the participation requirement.

We refer you to section Section 5-O-D, "Virtual Learning Options," pages 136 to 144 in the in the 24-25 Pupil Accounting Manual, for more information.  Please verify with your local auditor which count day method you should use to satisfy membership requirements.

Count Day Report

We provide a courtesy Count Day Report to assist you in retrieving documentation on the completion of a class assignment for each scheduled Michigan Virtual course in Brightspace.

A Count Day Report widget now appears on the top of your Brightspace home page to facilitate report access.

Student activity data for this report will be available after Count Day, beginning 10/2/25.  If viewing prior to 10/2/25, this page will display "No Activity in time range" for all students.

Google Lens

Google Lens Icon
Google has released a tool, Google Lens, that students may use to quickly find answers in both traditional and online courses. If you are not familiar with its usage, we encourage you to explore its capabilities to determine how it aligns with your local academic integrity policies. If appropriate, discuss the potential impact on coursework with your local IT department. We appreciate the work you do to promote academic integrity and guide appropriate use of AI tools. We look forward to continuing our partnership to provide the best possible learning experiences for your students.
